<p>This speaker is the working one, and though I've enjoyed it for Mono references in the past I have not used it for the past 4 years. Tannoy pioneered the use of Dual Concentric loudspeakers, where the tweeter is mounted behind the bass unit to produce a true single point source, and this approach is ideal for modern near field monitors where both high volume and transient levels and accurate stereo image are required. Their successors, the Precision 8 also use a dual concentric design with a twist, using dual concentric paper cones for mid and low frequency reproduction, and the integrated dual concentric 25mm HF titanium-dome tweeter for the higher frequency reproduction, with an additional 25 HF titanium-dome "super tweeter" to take the bandwidth performance out to 51kHz, therefore assisting in time and phase response at the upper end of audibility. Rigid cabinet design incorporating a bass-relex loading, lossy-coupled driver fixing and a 40mm thick contoured front baffle ensures the unit is mechanically sound.
